Lately, I have been trying to go to the salon and have my hair colored professionally. I was always afraid to try to color my hair aubergine/red at home, I have done browns and blondes but never red! But... I am trying to save up for a new car (yay!), so I decided to bite the bullet and try it at home. While searching high and low at my local CVS I was unimpressed by the color selection, but I was happy to find Schwarzkopf 4.2 Mahogany Red. This particular boxed dye retails for between $11.00 and $12.00 at CVS, so it was definitely a cheaper alternative for touching up my faded color. Although the process of dying my hair was quite messy, the clean up was a breeze! This dye did not stain my white bathtub or sink. The product also came with a deep conditioner in a convenient tube that can be reused 3-4 times. This deep conditioner left my hair silky and smooth afterwards and I did not feel as if I was damaging my hair (too much, anyway...) The color of my hair matched the color on the box well and I am very happy with the results! Overall, I think that this particular dye is a great alternative if you are looking to dye your hair this color, but don't want to splurge on a trip to the salon! When I was doing my research to find the perfect color most of the boxed hair dyes came out very different than the box claimed. Thankfully this box dye came out exactly as I intended! This photo was taken in natural light, so it does not appear as bright as in my before and after. This product provided the color I expected and the deep conditioner left my hair silky and smooth. I would 100% recommend this product to anyone wanting to color their hair!
